Judge Tina Brooks Green was elected to the 34th District Court in November 1994 and honorably served for three decades, including 25 years as Chief Judge. Throughout her tenure, she presided over misdemeanor, traffic, civil, and felony preliminary matters, managed complex dockets, and oversaw the court’s $17.5 million new court construction project, ensuring it was delivered on time and within budget.

Judge Green was instrumental in establishing and maintaining a successful hybrid drug court for more than 20 years, reflecting her long-standing commitment to evidence-based problem-solving approaches to justice.

Her leadership extended well beyond the courtroom. She served on the Board of the Michigan District Judges Association for nearly two decades, holding every executive position including President. She also represented the judiciary in community initiatives and legal education programs. Her dedication to outreach is especially evident in her coordination of more than 75 community parades and festivals, including the Sumpter Countryfest, Belleville Strawberry Festival, Romulus Pumpkinfest, and Huron Township Applefest.

Judge Green’s legal career began at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, followed by service in the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. She then worked in private practice at Brooks Kushman, where she gained experience in trademark, copyright, intellectual property, and corporate litigation.

Since retiring from the bench in December 2024, Judge Green has continued to serve the legal profession and her community. She is a certified civil case mediator and owner of TBGreen LLC, associated with MI-JADR, where she provides mediation and arbitration services in state and federal civil cases.

Judge Green also serves as Chair of the Michigan Impaired Driving Task Force, a statewide initiative established under the direction of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The task force brings together key stakeholders and executive members to reduce impaired driving crashes, fatalities, and injuries in Michigan. Under her leadership, the task force identifies critical areas of need and strategically allocates partner resources to maximize impact. Judge Green’s involvement underscores her ongoing commitment to public safety and her ability to leverage judicial expertise in addressing pressing community challenges beyond the courtroom.

In her role as Michigan’s State Judicial Outreach Liaison with the Michigan Judicial Institute and the State Court Administrative Office, Judge Green works to bridge the gap between the judiciary, policymakers, and the broader community. She provides peer-to-peer training, education, and outreach for judges and legal professionals across the state, promoting evidence-based practices and innovative solutions to improve the justice system. Her work includes collaborating with other criminal justice professionals, offering assistance to problem-solving courts, and engaging in nationwide initiatives through the American Bar Association’s State Judicial Outreach Liaison program. This role reflects her dedication to ensuring that Michigan’s courts remain accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of its citizens.
